After seeing a play in the West Village on Saturday night, I decided to get a little addition.... in the form of my 11th piercing. Ah. I think it's cute and it's healing well. Here's to spontaneity!

Butler Library Chronicles.
This is where I will be for the next 2 weeks. Home sweet home.... Makes me miss the days of undergrad and nights at DH Hill.
Last time I was in the library I saw an old man browsing nasty porn at 12:23am. So, I'm assuming more shit will go down over the next 2 weeks... And I plan to document the BLC (butler library chronicles, obv.) For your voyeuristic pleasure.

Four Eyes.
Today I started my quest for some new glasses. I have been in glasses or contacts since 5th grade, but have only had 3 pairs of glasses because I'm really picky. I have really big eyes and I just don't want to be in frames that are funny looking! As I'm getting older though, I see the value in preserving my sight, hence the decision to become a more part time contact wearer.
These are 2 pair I tried today at Columbia Optical. Duh I had the lady take pictures so I could send them to Cynthia, she's my fellow Four-Eyes in the family/my shopping partner for life. So please excuse the awkdotcom pictures...
I want frames big enough that my eyes/lashes aren't all cramped, plus I like a nice cute frame. I don't exactly think glasses are cute on me, like, I feel that my swag is downgraded in them. So, the main thing too is that I gotta find some that I actually LIKE how they look on me/how I look in them.
Challenges! Tomorrow I'm trying this other place, Cohen's Optical... We'll see what they got....

The Long and Winding Road: Fails and Victories.
Ya'll I am just trying to get home for thanksgiving. That plan just got its balls chopped off after a series of unfortunate events:
Go catch the M60 bus at 7:00pm. It was supposed to take 40min, getting me to LGA a good hour before my flight, 8:45pm. Right?
Fail#1 M60 didn't come at 7:00. It came at 7:22pm
Fail#2 the bus was creepin over some M-Fin bridge. Pulls up to LGA at 8:30pm
Fail#3 I run to counter, and the guy promptly plays my face on some "girrlll you ain't gettin on THAT plane" and I'm all "diva bitch, don't make this worse than it is."
Victory#1 Some Boss Bitch pipes in that my flights delayed and that I CAN get on it. Ballin
Fail#4 so hungry, but I decide on chex mix because I was plannin to Eat Like A BEAST when I got home.
Fail#5 I get on plane. Pass out. Wake up and, Oh! Hey Girl! We haven't moved. Fuck.
Fail#6 we depart at 10:10pm. I was supposed to board in Philly at 10:15pm.
Fail#7 watching my flight to RDU pull off. Without me on it.
Victory#2 they put us up me up in some hotel, new flight at the crack of ass o'clock in the morning.
Fail#8 I walked into the hotel at 12:02am. The bar and grille closed at 12:00am. Hence my Raisinets dinner.
Despite it all, I am SO ready to be where my family is. Tomorrow can't come soon enough.

They've cut me loose.
Here I am, way downtown around battery park. My internship had a training at DHS this morning. Instead of going up to the Bronx this morning, I went down to 33 Beaver Street myself. No problem because blackberry is amazing and google maps is a lifesaver.
I have a client who I recently got placed at a safe haven down in Manhattan on Bowery st (think location of the old CBGB). So, the training ends and here is the conversation:
Doug: so you're going over to the Andrews?
Me: um, ya. I'd like to go.
Doug: you know how to get there.
Me: (silence). I can get there. Sure.
Backstory--- I mentioned before, my internship is a mobile unit. I have an office, but we do a lot of stuff using the 5 company cars. I have become a champion passenger since I don't have driving privileges. I mean, I got over my pretty much constant car sickness AND my need to sleep while someone else drives.
Even MORE backstory-- its time for my mid-semester review. Like I've mentioned before, my school is very touchy feel-y and Doug and I have to have an hour long oral dialogue about where I think I'm at, where he thinks I'm at and a slew of other awkward-ass things. Needless to say, I am less that excited. Being evaluated is so uncomfortable. It doesn't help that Doug is a CUSSW alum, he's only 27 and he's someone who, in my real life, I'd want to be friends with/ wanna make out with a little. Hahahaha. I die.
Ok. Back to the real story--
So he cut me loose. And I know this is a "how-independent-self-sufficient-is-this-intern" test. And I am up for it. I just got to the canal street stop and I might jump off and go get me somethin fake right quick....
Actually, just got to my real stop. Wish me luck! I hope to prove myself with Doug and my co-workers...and to myself as well. I do live here now, and I can't hide out in the UWS and Hunts Point forever. Its all about branching out for the second semester...

E and I went to the Today Show today!
We are such tourists, ha. This was our far away gift to Mommy. She is over the moon about it, I'm in love with Matt Lauder. He's a cutie! Anyways, It's very easy to get up there to watch the show, and very fun too. So far I am loving the city. I made sure to take a lot of pictures this morning while I was out, and I will share them asap.

The journey to New York part 1
As predicted, there was gonna be some serious BS shenanigans going on for this trip. I knew it. So, Here we go. SM and I went out for Grace's birthday the Saturday night before. We planned to only stay out til 12. as
usual, at 12 we were heading to another bar. We get all mixed up between Kashmir and Sullivans, and end up meeting Denny and Courtney for a drink at thee latter. We don't leave Raleigh til 1:30 or so. go fig. So I get home and pack/weep til 3am. I wake up at 6:30, take my last shower shower at home, and pack the last of it up. best-guy-friend Karl is coming over at 9 to pick up the Uhaul and drive me to Washington DC. BS-Senanigans #1: best-guy-friend-Karl is supposed to have his best friend Lucas help load the truck. For reasons way to irritating to explain, Lucas backs out. Awesome. Rude, thoughtless little pig. I start to freak. I am litterally driving, texting and calling at the same time. I am cash poor on a Sunday, looking for some loser willing to make a quick buck by loading my crap. The guy who cuts my parents grass (and who i've know since I'm 5) comes through in the clutch. He gets the car loaded up with Karl in 25
minutes. The only casualties of the pack were: my nightstand (broken), my bookshelf (left behind), and my big house plant (I still can't talk about it because I'll cry). Karl and I get on the road at 12:05. He doesn't follow my GPS at first and is U-turning all up in this bitch like we're in a sedan. but I digress. The ride was with no complaint. I organized my blackberry, screamed at Karl for texting-not-driving, and played a rousing game of F,M, or K. BS-Shenanigans #2: as we enter the city (all of 4 miles from E's apartment) we miss our turn and go down 17th street. Surprise! 17th street is a "no truck zone" so we see that sign... and see all the construction and our country asses assume they are talking about Mack trucks, dump trucks, idk, bulldozers.... We see a cop turn behind us and Karl and I joke about how much it sucks to hear those sirens come up behind you. 3 minutes later? Woop Woop Woop.
we get pulled. not by the DC Metro cops but by the true life, no lie SECRET mugfug SERVICE. yup. blah blah blah it sucked, I was stressed, Karl was calm... but they give him a ticket for the moving violation, $75.00 and 2 points on his license. Sucks, but no biggie, right? Wrong. Karl already has an inappropriate amount of points on his license because of past bad behavior. So. Thats great. Karl, you're going to G-D jail.

We get to DC, our professional movers get everything in the truck and it's beautiful.
E, my mom and I go binge eat at our favorite mexican spot, go home, to sleep. All thats left in the apartment are 2 cots (which I brought from NC). So, somehow here I am with my no meat having hips or ass, sle
eping on hardwood floors. Somewhere at 5am I switch to the cot. We left
for NYC at 9:15 on Monday morning, and I'll have to continue the story a little later.
(pictures are of me pumping gas in the Uhaul in Dinwiddie, Va,
the effing price to fill up the truck, and 2 pictures of the back of the profe

Mini updater and recent purchases

It really is 3:21am, don't be deceived. We worked through the evening to finish up the living room, bathroom and kitchen. Everything is amazing so far. I absolutely love the apartment and all of our things are wonderful. E and I will worry about our rooms tomorrow and Thursday. Tomorrow our cable and internet will be installed. However, I'm picking up some sweet ass wireless from someone else, so I'm pretty sure we're gonna cancel the internet and just keep renegading it. More importantly, our air conditioner is being installed tomorrow. It is hellishly hot in NYC and in the apt. We brought 2 fans with us, luckily and they have held up down more or less the past couple days, but this AC is going to change my life. Alright, tomorrow I will publish a more legit post tomorrow, with pictures of the apartment thus far. this is some stuff I ordered for our spot today. A hook for our keys, 2 runners for the hallways, these cute branch looking hooks to hold the curtains back, and the jewelry organizer for E's room. All found here.

Bigger Ponds
It may sound conceited to call myself a Big Fish. Let me explain. I was raised in Chapel Hill, NC. I went to college in Raleigh NC (30 miles away) I moved to Durham NC (8 miles from Chapel Hill) and I work in Chapel Hill (6 miles from my parents). Needless to say. I know everyone in this town. At the bars I see my Middle School class mates. At the grocery store I see my first grade teacher. At the Psychiatrist office I work at.... well.... I know them all.
It's time to go. The only time I had that "this is for me" feeling was when I was in London the summer after my freshman year of college. I knew no one there, I was 18 years old and the city was bigger than I could fathom.
This blog begins right before I jump into my Big Pond. I am going to graduate school at Columbia University. yup. Columbia... it's in NYC. It's the opposite of NC and I am going to be the biggest fucking fish in the ultimate big pond.
In terms of expectations of me as a blogger here is the scoop.
I'm not cool or funny. I'm probably no more interesting that you are yourself. Any humor you find in me is just a fluke. I don't believe in people who try to be funny. you are or you aren't. When you try, you aren't and even worse? you're also pathetic.
This is what I do know:
1) I'm honest to a fault.
2) I don't do discomfort. I put it out there. you accept it. If you're not too awkwarded out, you don't return.
3) You're going to return because you're going to be obsessed. Thats my most charming quality, driving strangers to inexplicable obsession.
4) I curse. I can use "fuck" as Who-What-When-Where and I will. Even if I probably don't need to. The same goes for the overuse of dashes, dramatic periods, and ellipses.
5) I speak in mostly slang and abbreviations. And I don't translate.
so, with that. see you next time, or not.
