2010 had it's highs. And there were certainly some lows. It's crazy because I know that in the next year so much is going to change in my life. For starters, I'll be graduating in May.... from graduate school. It's fucking nuts to me because, I mean, for a major chunk of college I didn't know how I was going to graduate (High school too, for that matter.) So, I have a little bit a pride, and a shit load of "what am I supposed to do now" feelings. Another major? I'll be turning twenty-five. The other night I had this moment where I called myself "twenty-four" and was confused as to if it was true or not. So.... obviously reaching quarter-life is going to be intense... but it's welcomed. Something else? It will soon be time to make big-girl choices about things like, where I will live next year...and living alone again. Dental insurance, and a savings account. Paying my credit card off and learning how to do my taxes. Included in this is the overall "taking-care-of-myself" which includes a proper diet, regular exercise (because another thing that allegedly happens at age twenty-five? Metabolism falls off. damn.)
I know there is so much to look forward to, like having the time to date? see a show on a weekday? get back 5pm-9am? Not write a paper? Be less poor? Also... There's something about being 23 & 24 in NYC as a student... and being 25 & 26 as an adult with a job, in NYC. I feel like I had a taste of it last summer and I literally would love even one ounce of that life back.... But I won't lie. It's scary as shit and I don't even know what the fuck happens on 1/1/11// except I guess a chapter closes? Another one opens??
I don't know, but I've never been more ready.

Skins.
I watched the entire first 4 seasons of SKINS over the course of the school year....and, let me just say. I am completely obsessed. It's fucking amazing and I cannot get enough. I cannot wait for season 5 (British) to start and I'm even open minded to this American (and surely weaker and less edgy) version to come on in Jan.
If you haven't watched yet, go to Netflix! They have seasons 1-3 on insta-watch.
2 generation-- seasons 3&4

Holiday 2010.
OMG. Un. Real. Finals are over and I can be a regular person (until Jan 3rd).
For those who care: I'll be in NC from the 22-2. And I have MANY people I MUST see. (GRACE. BECKY. this is a must). I'm looking forward to coming on home for a bit, and driving a car, and staying up late, and not walking. haha. The holidays are always great, and I'm really into the R&R.
Questions: What good TV shows have I most likely missed (prime time) and should catch up on?
Any good movies I should netflix?
Good book for the holiday reading list?
I need someone to help me re-engage in the real world!

What I wore: Fall 2010.
This little part of my blog always makes me laugh because it makes you guys laugh. I mean, full disclosure?? yes. I take these pictures on my blackberry. hahaha
These are mostly of work clothes, a couple nights out (ie: the neon leopard I wore to the La Roux concert) and school clothes.
Don't worry.... Winter 2010/11 will follow!

I Can't Live Without: Exam Edition.
New little segment, while I'm still a lazy, partially committed blogger. I figured I need to do SOMETHING because right now I'm sort of pathetic. I give myself a pass because right now I am going through the hardest exam period of my entire life. It's just not reasonable to sleep as little as I do, and work as much as I do right now. I know a lot of you identify with me right now.... so, before I tell you what I can't live without, I'd like to raise a toast to anybody who's out there grindin right now-- legally and illegally.
Moving Forward:
I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT: Google Docs.
Christ. what a little gem. Today 4 of us, E, Kbeau, .... hum..... she needs a blog-name. R^3 (that works.),and myself all decided to approach our Advance Clinical Practice class with nothing short of common-sense, savvy....pure genius, really.
A little background: All 4 of us are in the same class, and for the final exam we were given 13 questions, all various styles of obscure mini-papers (meaning they need their individual citations, research, the works). I'm sorry. But that's a motherfucker. Like.... way too much work.
We beasted it today. To those of you who aren't familiar.... in Google Docs you can collaborate on one single assignment as a team. There's even a cute little "chat" feature within. I loved Loved LOVED literally watching all of us type away, in real time. And, I was proud of us for not falling in to a k-hole of misery by trying to attack the exam by ourselves. Even though I still need to WRITE my exam, the fact that I have all of the research, source gathering, AND citations already compiled made me feel... well. giddy. So giddy I drank tonight. So giddy that I'm blogging at 1:42am, so giddy that I'm not remembering how hard it is to get to work in the morning when I go to sleep after 1am.
Still not sure about Google Docs??
Then this should be enough to convert you to a believer.
Stay tuned: there are so many things I cannot live without these days!

A cartoon interpretation of the MSW Program.
Someone who either goes to, or went to the same grad school as me made this video. I swear this is 100% exactly how I feel and exactly what this experience is like. Social Work humor, but still funny. Give it a watch.

Still Breathing.
This is partially to blame for where I've been all semester. My new internship is incredible, but I have never worked harder. (Hard to believe after crawling in the woods last year.) The difference? I am wearing my new hat (and it's still so strange to say) of "Clinician." I have clients, and we do therapy, and I see a couple for counseling... and I work a shift at the psychiatric Emergency Room at NY Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell) every Friday afternoon. I absolutely love what I'm doing, but.... I'm tired. Because then, there is school... and like, the library.
Anyways, I just caught up on the blogs of SM, LMCW, Akili ,Mo'C, Bex & Grace..... and I tell you what, I miss you guys, and I miss my blog! So, we'll see if I can get back in the groove.

Impromptu Piercing.
After seeing a play in the West Village on Saturday night, I decided to get a little addition.... in the form of my 11th piercing. Ah. I think it's cute and it's healing well. Here's to spontaneity!

Blame it on the Alcohol.
I'm not sure how my chill evening turned to this. Like. How can 2 people put in this kind of work? I haven't been hung over like this since college. (Or NYE morning, after getting randomly shit faced with Morgs when SM was up here last December)
No. Bueno.
On a lighter note, Bud Light? You still go down like water. I still love you the most.
In other, loosely related news. My crush (my old boss from my job last year) is over. And not by my choice. *Note to readers*:
When they BBM you to make plans to meet up? Good sign!
When they BBM you to make plans to meet up to talk about the crush they have and how its progressing? Shit. Bad sign!
When they BBM you to make plans to meet up to talk about the crush they have and how its progressing and the girl is fucking hot and you can't even hate? Kiss of death.
Just some littler pearls.
Happy Halloween to all you gangsters.

Webster Hall.
One of my new favorite venues for a show is Webster Hall.
This past weekend we went to the Vampire Weekend after party/Chromeo DJ set at Webster Hall. It was like the most incredible thing I've ever been to, surreal in a way because Webster Hall is this giant sprawling old building with different rooms and bars tucked away in corners. Never mind the 19 year old little bitches tryin to buck like it was an episode of the Bad Girls Club... We drank $3 PBR and danced on stage to wonderful House, Reggae, Mash-ups, and top 40 music until 3am. I finally figured out my third professional calling... Go-Go dancing.
This is a picture K.beau took of the awesome wall paper in the ladies bathroom. Cute.
I'll post the others as soon as I upload.

Mixtape: MaJor Lazer & La Roux present: Lazerproof.
The homie LA sent me the link to this mixtape a few weeks back when I was searching for the name of the song that played the credits of the Episode of Entourage when Vince OD'ed (sorry if thats a spoiler. whoops). Duh, everyone loves La Roux because of "BulletProof" and for all your Reggae fiends out there (DC Meg, K. Beau) Major Lazer delivers. I listen to "Independent Kill" "I 4 the Kill Pon De Skream" and " I Said It" every damn day. for sure.
Download it here.

New Music. KO Kid: The Plan.

I. Need. To. Shop.
Saw this picture over on K.Beau's Tumblr and it kills me.....
I haven't been shopping. Like.... at all this summer and I want to die. I have seriously been to busy/poor/poor/poor to shop and it's taking a toll on me. I am so sick of my entire closet and I want to pull it all out and start fresh. Anyways.... Some things that make me die over at Urban Outfitters...:

Awkward & Uncomfortable: Facebook Status.
I was browsing FB.... and came across this choice nug for A&U moments....:
....I don't need to explain. I laughed then.... and I guess I'm still laughing now. haha. Half the reason I die about facebook is because of the type of shit this Scarlet Mae Brook likes to pull. Like, no. I don't want to win a free i-pad, or answer your fucking secret question, or play honesty box, or attend your shitty bands' concert at a cafe in a town that I don't live anywhere near.... and! Not to mention, I get logged out every 3 seconds when I'm on from my computer anyways.... Listen, I digress. But todays A&U goes to Scarlet Mae Brook, you self promoting, advertising, shit-posting-to-peoples-wall, you!

The concert-going bug of the summer has not died with the school year starting. I swear, hands down one of the best things about New York are the shows, and the events.... Just another tally mark in the "yes-I'm-absolutely-staying-here-after-I-graduate" column.
So far on the calender:
I'm also trying to see Wicked, Rent, and possibly Dave Matthews (again)..... we'll see.
