What I wore: Fall 2010.

This little part of my blog always makes me laugh because it makes you guys laugh. I mean, full disclosure?? yes. I take these pictures on my blackberry. hahaha

These are mostly of work clothes, a couple nights out (ie: the neon leopard I wore to the La Roux concert) and school clothes.

Don't worry.... Winter 2010/11 will follow!

What I wore: Summer 2010.

I completely stopped this portion of my blog because I never had time to do it. However, I was going through my phone a couple days ago and was dying over the amount of outfit pictures I do take... like, a lot of the. It usually so that I can send it to someone for the OK, but it was funny none the less. So, even though it's slightly embarrassing, whatever, Act like you don't snap pictures of yourself/your outfits too! Whatever. Here it is: Summer 2010, What I wore (Cellphone pictures addition.)

What I wore: Vegas.

That's me, SM and RSJ in Vegas. I don't have many pictures from the trip, but I'll post the others as soon as I'm back to New York. I love these 3 pictures of us. Each night we went out our individual style was obvious, and our personalities are too! But we still make the best of friends and I'm so glad we've remained close after college.

Good Find: American Apparel Cirle Scarf

I got this scarf a couple weeks ago at American Apparel. You can find it here . My girl Wisconsin-Shannon put me on a while ago before it got cold and she was prepping me for winter, haha. Whats awesome about it is that you can wear it a bunch of different ways. That's me in my gray one. I only really wear it looped twice (like it is in the picture, with a blazer) or three times if it's real cold out. Maybe I'll try it as a dress....

Friday Night:

A little lazy this week with the pictures. These are off of my blackberry (obv) and were really intended for my mom, since she still helps me get dressed, even from afar.
So, I have pretty much regressed from first semester. All of the exciting colors and patterns I was slowly adopting seem like a thing of the past. I still totally appreciate color, and want to better utilize it.... but, I have been a fan of neutrals (especially black) since the beginning of time. It doesn't help that New York is a) dirty b) everyone wears black. It was inevitable.

My personal style is still lacking any concrete definition. I think it's mostly classic with a safe amount of trend... I realy enjoy fashion and clothes, I remember having a subscription to W in 2002 when all of my friends were getting Seventeen, Teen, & Cosmo (for them freaky girls...SM hahahaha). So it's sort of weird that I don't know what the hell I wear. I suppose thats why I like documenting the outfits. Makes me consider it a little more, and, it's kind of fun.

One one last note: I've recently gotten comfortable with the idea of accessories. (crazy, right?) I'm looking forward to trying out cocktail rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings that stray away from my basic sterling rings and necklace. So I guess it's give and take. What I lost in color/pattern exploration, I've gained in accessorizing.

Got a little lazy this week. Took the pictures, didn't post a thing. Oh well. My style is pretty much consistent and I really like to wear the same types of things. not a lot of patterns, black and neutral (although color is still something I dabble with) boots, I love boots. cardigans all day erry day... you know. the usual.

When someone asks about your personal style I don't have an exact answer. Not that it really matters, but it's good to know what you like and why... what inspires what you wear. So, thats what i'm figuring out now.

Holiday Party...

Oh hey y'all. I just finished finals! I'm like, real happy. My family just got to town, got new clients at my internship....so things are exciting and busy.

On Wednesday night my agency had their office holiday potluck for all the case workers. Fun right? Well, my supervisor insisted on me bringing my parents. Here I am, that freakin intern with her parents at the office party.

Well it went real well! Haha my parents took the train to the bronx with me, and met everyone. They absolutely loved Doug and I mean, duh...I love doug so it worked out perfectly haha.

My family is still up here, and my bro is staying w/ me and E. Tonight I plan to get him into some real crazy shit with his buddy patrick. Hopin to get blacked out like a freshman... Its winter break, dammit!!

Oh, and that's what I wore to the x-mas dinner. It was sort of a big deal because usually I wear like, baggy-ish jeans, my nike air max sneakers or clarks, and a tee-shirt +zip or cardigan. Nothing cute but like, I work in a boys club with homeless people so cute stuff is like, really not appropriate.

Needless to say I was excited to get a lil dressed up.

Ok. I'm rambling to avoid the real story. So I'm at a potluck dinner and its like, the food? Its bangin. I hadn't had a legit meal in like 4 days because of finals and all the mess with the banker. I'm like, "Self, you know how sensitive you are to everything. Don't spaz in here, eating whatever the fuck you wanna"

Obviously I didn't follow my own advice. The downfall was this lasagna that my co-worker brought. It was just TOO much flavor. With each bite my stomach was screaming back "please. No more" but some how I decided to ignore it's pleas.

Then here comes Doug: "I signed up for dessert because I wanted to bring everyone my favorite cheesecake in the world from this spot over by where I stay."

Well. Hell. Someone brings me an inappropriately large slice. 3 bites in and it was a wrap.

Y'all, I don't even really eat dairy like that. Why would I eat this hunk of cheesecake concentrate?

To make matters more awkward/uncomfortable, during the "I appreciate my staff" speak Doug gave.... I escape. Where I proceed to die a low death in the bathroom. I know, huge TMI, but whatever, it's my blog and I mean--- I'm going there.

So the more I panic about how er--shitty the situation is, the more um...shitty the situation becomes.

Moral of the story: some times you gotta man up, suck it up, and rejoin the party. And friends, that's what I did. But that's my last pot luck. They will get you killed.

Mid term madness

I mentioned earlier that it's midterm time at Columbia. We don't have tests here, exactly... more papers, lab packets, and all around a ton of stuff due. I'm a little pressed, not gonna lie because my school work is one thing, and my work at CAB is overwhelming too. On Tuesday Doug was like "Oh, hay, could you just write me up a reflection of[this meeting he took me too]? you know, 3-4 pages, whatever." Hum... sure Doug. Can't wait to just reflect for 3-4 pages. So, here I am, Thursday night, 9:45. I need to be up at 5:30 and I also need to email Doug my reflection and my process recording before 8am. Can someone PLEASE remind we why I decided to go to grad school? and a hard grad school at that?! Haha, Nah, I wouldn't have it any other way. I am actually overjoyed with where my life is at the moment. I so HAPPY right now. My friends, new and old, are great people, I adore NY and CUSSW. I have a supportive family with parents and siblings who make my world go around. So, as much as a joke and go on and on in my monotone way, bitching and moaning about the weather, the dirt, other people, whatever--- at the end of the day, my gratitude for my life and the blessing I receive every day grows and grows.

In keeping in step with the self-reflective nature of my program and with how my life is shaping up as 2009 draws to an end (Um, it's almost November?) I want to make it a point to consider these kinds of things more....the "who am I?" and "Where am I going" questions that float around in my head from time to time.

As for the outfit, the rain cleared, the sun shone. There is a nice fall breeze in the air and my boots are broken in, and I am having a good time trying out color (SM, are you proud?)

Who Will Stop the Rain?

It's been raining on and off since Friday. That's a lot of rain seeing as today is Wednesday. Now, in general I don't have a problem with rain. I always feel bad for the plants and animals when it doesn't rain.... but now, I just feel bad for myself, haha. New York sorta sucks when it's raining because it's still sort or gross. Like mud on stuff, wet seats, wet trash. just wet. Not to be a debbie downer, I still adore it here and, I mean, each place has there thing... at home sometimes it so hot and humid I remember feeling like there was no way to even go to my car. Anyways, things are very hectic for me, as I'm sure they are for everyone else, but I have some posts drafted and I work on them from time to time, so look forward to that. I'm got some stories... hahaha.

Oh, and let me let you in on a secret. I'm sorta short, but only because I have short legs. the drawbacks? I look like a little kid splashing around in the insanely tall rain boots. The benefits? I regularly buy shirts in an XL, belt them and, ta-da! it's a tunic (or a dress in the summer and I'm skankin.) I had to exchange some impulse buys at Old Navy and had a lil somethin to burn. I saw the white shirt I'm wearing today on the sale rack for $6.00. In my real size it was a cute long blouse for like, over jeans, but with leggings, sorry, you need to cover your booty (unless you're a model or somehow have overcome the overwhelming "i'm naked!" feeling you get when you first try out leggings-for-pants). So this shirt in an XL made for the perfect booty curtain!

Just thought I'd drop that lil life lesson on ya, keep the knowledge flowin. hahaha.
