Can't stop; won't stop.

"Can't stop; won't Stop." was my facebook "about me" for he better part of college. And like.... that just how I do.
I work too much, and too hard. I do too much in general. going out, raging, not sleeping, raging. raging. working. homeless people stuff. stress. raging....

OK. I've said it. It's difficult to admit because I didn't think it was a problem. Until literally it was a problem.

This was Wednesday Night, after 72 straight hours of a new-asshole-ripping migraine.

IV DRUGGGSSSS

Hospital over crowding means I had my entire ER visit in public. yup. in that chair.

At St. Luke's, getting my life together. Thank you to Morgs, K.Beau, SM, and pretty much everybody else that was like "go to the Doctor. fool."

So. I took the day off work (!!!) and forewent 3 concerts this week. Trying to be more balanced, sleep more, drink more (water.) and not be such a can't-stop-won't-stop warrior anymore.

also for you 2birdsoneblog lovers out there....:

Mixtape Freak.

It's no secret I'm a low-key music freak, I love the radio shit, local shit, underground, weird, freakin, old shit....I like a lot of music. Stumbled across these two mixtapes and had to post. Rick Ross (the Boss) and TI put them out, and both have albums coming out later on this summer/year. More on both mixtapes and downloads can be found over here at rap-up.com

Summer Theme Music.

I absolutely love Wiz Khalifa. I like his music so much I'm literally obsessed. There is a track off of the Burn After Rolling mixtape called The Thrill and, like.... it's my life. I play it first thing in the morning, listen to it on repeat on the way to work, It's in my head at work. And.... I mean, obviously I listen to it on the way home from work, too. I gotta post my current Summer play list because it is more than just this song. But barely. hahaha Listen to the mixtape below, and thank the people over at 2dopeboyz.com for the album art and the track list.
Searching for the thrill of it, thrill of it,
Say that it's love, but to me it's looking counterfeit,
I get done with one and move on to another bitch
Yea college educated, she graduated
Any bill she can't front, her parents paid it
The show was far, you the only one with a car
And your girlfriends, bein that she's a big fan, of course she made it
Most girls wanna hide the fact that the thrill they chase it
But you, tonight you wanna get drunk and fuck someone famous
So I just name a time and a place and your game for it
Value player, hotel room, meet you there

[{background}:]
{Walking on a dream
How can I explain
Talking to myself}
Just travelin' the world
{Will I see again}
Tryin' different drugs and girls

{We are always running for the thrill of it, thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down, I'm just in awe of what's in front of me}

And I'm addicted to champagne
Fuck the room we buy the hallway
Bitches I Taylor Gang that
They just wanna know where the planes at

Take the little one outta there
Or like, just turn it down
And then I'm um probably just gonna go back smoke another one in an hour
Just get real airy, fuckin' dreamy and shit

Wake up drunk go to sleep fucked up
We both amazed at what we just done
Mixin' drinks, knowin we'll regret this
Ain't been asleep yet, room service bringin' us breakfast
All this money, darlin, what else is left to do
But smoke an enjoy my presidential view
Got a swimmin pool in my living room
On stage, interviews, tons of sour, let's consume

{We are always running for the thrill of it, thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down, I'm just in awe of what's in front of me}

And I'm addicted to champagne
Fuck the room, we buy the hallway
Bitches I Taylor Gang that
They just wanna know where the planes at

And I'm addicted to champagne
Fuck the room, we buy the hallway
Bitches I Taylor Gang that
They just wanna know where the planes at

What's this?
Burn after rollin?
Yeah, that's what it is
Until I drop the next one
It's just that

{Catch me I'm falling down
Catch me I'm falling down

Don't stop, just keep going on
I'm your shoulder lean upon
So come on, deliver from inside
All we got is tonight that is right till first light}

I'm stoned
This is what, mix tape number 6? 7?
I don't know, but um, good weeds still in the building
Your bitch still hittin me on whatever I use on the computer these days
Everything's going how it's supposed to be
Yes, Taylor Gang over everything...

Soundtrack to My Life: Pursuit of Happiness.

Ya'll I'm back. I wasn't even sure if this return would happen because my job is crazy right now and I'm doing 12 hour days and getting 5 hours of sleep--- but this is honestly the best time of my life.

I'll hit ya'll with the updater later on, but I was actually inspired to return to SitC (you like that abbrev, don't you?) Because of my boo, Kid Cudi. It's no secret I like him, his music, his whole steez. So, tonight I was checking his blog out and he had posted this amazing cover of his song (any one from my current top 10) Pursuit of Happiness.

People Told Me Slow My Roll I’m Screaming Out Fuck Thaat
Imma Do Just What I Want Lookin’ Ahead No Turnin’ Back
The lyrics..... I die for you, Cudi. Just. Die.

This girl is called Lissie. I don't know anything else about her, except I need to see her. live.

And, you should check out the original. The song is the illest, the video is dope, & MGMT and Ratatat are on the track so, you know....

Lindsay Lohan.

I rarely blog about what celebrities are doing because I figure, yall have computers and access to mags, and so like, why am I gonna re-tell the same gossip thats on the next site. However, this (and I think this may be the first time??) I have some comments.

Our dear friend Lindsay Lohan. SMH. SMH. SMH. I mean, first: die, because I used to be obsessed with her because she was hot, and crazy red haired, and normal-people sized-- basically the shit circa Mean Girls. second: I even thought she was cool and like, interesting when she got all Hollywood-skinny and doing drugs and wild and randomly dating Samantha Ronson, you know...

But now? She's inappropriate, uncomfortable (re: her father, her twitter account, her whole everything), drunk, skelly, and on Death Watch 2010. And I don't like it.

Who. The. Eff. Goes to Europe, blows off their court date and then tries to claim they lost their passport? Liar. Freakin Liar. I don't know about y'all... but I've been to Court. The Man's gotten me down before too. The last thing I thought to do was to miss my court date, and then Lie. I mean, damn. The Judge didn't play no games with her retaliation. I think she deserves it. I hope she can get her shit together and save her career (although, her leggings line is sorta dope).

Judging Li.Lo's face in this picture... it's only going to get juicier from here.

Oh... Nice Suit. For real... like, it's really well made.

Minimalist Movie Posters.

Jackie over at The 20 Something Society posted these gems earlier in the month and I had to share them as well. I have always loved how people keep re-creating these. I really liked the ones by Albert Exergian, and Nick Tassone (who did these) did a pretty nice job. It helps that I love horror flicks and 'The Shining' in one of my favorite movies. ever.

Minimalist TV Posters.

I love these minimalist posters created by Albert Exergian.
He takes a central theme or concept from the shows and creates a simple but stunning poster. I especially love the True Blood one (which is coming back on in June...!!)

The Cycle.

I sort of need someone to explain the line between "bitch" and "asshole." You know, off the cycle. I am starting to think that there isn't a line there because the two aren't supposed to go together. That, my friends, is the story of the Banker.

Or at least it seems that way.

Settling for Mr. Good Enough....?

So I've seen this book reviewed in a couple of places, but last night Kim sent me this link. I have read it twice and still mulling over my thoughts... Basically the author is saying that many women are still single because they have a standard that is set too high, and expectations that are unfair/unattainable. Ok, valid. A lot of girls want a top 10-- but this lady is saying that many girls are passing over great guys because they aren't bothering to look at the 6's and 7's. I'm not talking about looks specifically, I mean the total package, ps.

When I read over the list, I thought about the fact that I am *guilty* of most of these. Like, for example, I don't know that I think my options are unlimited, but as my wise Aunt Lois said "if one won't, another one will." And I fully agree with that. I personally do feel like i deserve a good guy, not some guy I'm settling for because I can't find a guy who acts right. I mean, say you meet a guy who is an over all 6. I just don't understand why he has to be considered as a potential partner. Oh, that's right. I'm judgmental (apparently another 'mistake' of the single lady.) judgment gets a shitty reputation. And I'm not even gonna use the typical "I'm not judgmental, I just know what I like" excuse. Thing about it is that everyone is judgmental. We spend every second of the day making snap judgments, from deciding if we can really afford to sleep another 10 minutes, to scarf-or-no-scarf, cook-or-takeout, etc. Just like these snap decisions, I think most girls have an initial gut reaction when they meet new boys. I have NEVER come away from a meeting and not know what category they fall into. I think this author is saying that holding fast to too high standards and having all these deal breakers sets girls up to lose. Sure, it's possible. But I just think that every girl deserves to be happy and get exactly what she wants (Whoops, there I go, being all 'entitled').

Overall, I'm not sure why I have a problem with this book.... I'll mull it over and see what I can figure out. Check out the 7 Mistakes Single Girls Make below.... what do you think?

"If you've working and you’re wondering why you haven’t met Mr. Right yet, think about looking for the qualities that are important. You can find someone you’ll be really happy with and fall totally in love with. These guys are all around you but you’re not giving them a chance. You could be passing up tons of Mr. Rights. And you’re going out with all the Mr. Wrongs. It’s less about what you wear or do on a date than it is about having healthier standards. You can still have the fairy tale, but it will look different from what the media portrays as the fairy tale.…The same unrealistic expectations we have about dating, we have about marriage, too. Married people have said that this book makes them appreciate their husbands more.” - The Author

Here’s what many single women do that we might want to reconsider:

1. We feel entitled.
Gottlieb: “Women try to be good friends to each other. We say, ‘You deserve this, you’re so great! You’re such a good catch! Any man would be lucky!’ [Men don’t say that to each other.] We are good catches, but we also are human and we’re not perfect and somebody’s going to have to put up with us for the rest of his life. And we forget. My dating coach said, write down all the reasons a guy would not want to date you. At first I didn’t think I had that many things, because you think you’re a pretty good catch. He said, what you think of as quirky, endearing, and cute, is really annoying to someone else. But he would love you so much that he would overlook that. And you need to overlook things in him. Everybody has to compromise.”

2. We think we have unlimited options.
Gottlieb: “You walk into a store and you know you want a sweater and it has to go with this outfit and it has to be this color, and you’d like to be on sale. You find something great, but you wonder if there’s something better out there, so you keep searching. In the end, after three more weeks of searching for the perfect sweater—was it so much better than the one you could have bought originally? Whether it’s with men or sweaters…if you just think you have unlimited options for the rest of your life, of course you’ll keep looking, who wouldn’t?”

3. We’re judgmental.
Gottlieb: “The guys I interviewed for the book said women judge them so much. Women gave me 300 reasons they wouldn’t go on a second date with a guy, and men gave 3. When guys are ready for that stage of life, they find someone who is good enough that they’re totally in love with—but that person may not seem to the outside world to be as appealing in superficial ways—maybe she’s not as accomplished or funny as the last girl. Whatever he sees in her, he does. Guys don’t sit and micro-analyze a woman the way a woman would with a man. He knows she’s not as hot as the last girl he dated, but that’s okay. She’s hot enough.”

4. We’re pickier than men.
Gottlieb: “With online dating, we judge based on objective criteria (height, sports nut), rather than subjective (attraction), which you can’t judge until you meet the person. When you read other people’s profiles, don’t make assumptions or rule them out because of one thing they wrote. You can fall in love with a guy who wrote that he likes Madonna, but you can’t fall in love with a guy who isn’t kind.”

5. We go for the alpha males.
Gottlieb: “In cities where you find a lot of really ambitious, Type A, driven people, like in NYC and L.A., with the entertainment business and Wall Street…you get a lot of ‘maximizers’ [people who keep looking over their shoulder for something better]. Maximizer women date maximizer men. They will be just as picky in a bad and unhealthy way. The men who are actually available and wanting commitment and who are smart and funny and cute—maybe one guy is a little bit shorter, so he’s not getting the women. Maybe he’s not smooth initially or in big groups, but he is one-on-one. These are the kind of people who when you’re 35, 45, 55, that you’ll be happy with when you’re married, and the guy who is super charming at the party and has the crowd of women around him, maybe he’s not going to make as good of a husband. Maybe he’s not going to call you back. That guy is going to be judgmental and picky, and who wants that?”

6. We think, “I love me more.”
Gottlieb: “We don’t need a man. We don’t. But if you want one and you go around with this attitude of ‘I love me more,’ [what Samantha said in the Sex and the City movie, after she dumps a hot guy who helped her through cancer (and female audiences cheered)] well, a relationship is about reciprocity, so you need to love yourself and you need to be able to have some selflessness and love somebody else. Women take Samantha’s message as really empowering. If you don’t want to be alone—maybe Samantha does—that’s a dangerous message.”

7. We think he needs to share every interest.
Gottlieb: “We say, ‘I’m a writer, but he doesn’t read! I’m creative.’ But people can be creative in different ways, and the fact that he doesn’t read the same books that you do, well, maybe he wants someone who he can talk about the baseball game with but you’re not that person. The guy doesn’t have to be one-stop shopping. You’re not going to share every single interest, and that’s okay. The shared interest should be, Do we want the same things out of life? Do we both want to be married right now?”

Jean Paul Gaultier for Target

AH! Jean Paul Gaultier is the next designer doing a line for Target. It's supposed to start selling on March 7th. Some of it is crazy and i didn't like the pictures from the lookbook, so I didn't include them, but that trench coat is divine at on $59.99. Both Leather Bombers run closer to $200.00, but still fresh. I like that Target has continued to up the ante with the Go International campaign. Luella Bartley was one of the first they had, I remember.... but pulling off Rodarte, Jovovich-Hawk, and now Jean Paul Gaultier..... I like it.

There are like, no Targets up here. They just put one one at 138th on the East side which is sort of easy to get to... and there is one up in the BX which is do-able. I may have to make a trip when this line comes out (or just chance it online...)

friends.

This silly girl is my lady Grace. I've been thinking a lot about this past semester, this past year really. SO much has gone on, you know the usual highs and lows of life... but today I found myself really missing Grace. I was flipping through the 400-some missed tumbles and saw this pictures. So, tomorrow I'm dropping by her job (my old job) specifically to see her (although, she will read this before I get there and the surprise will be ruined but, what the hell....) I just miss her, more than I think I even realized. I don't want to become the person who moves away and says " oooh ya, girl, i'll be home in the spring!" then I come home, camp out at my parents for 3 days, and run back to New York. I don't want to loose the friends I have here because I am positive that I couldn't make it up there without them.... So, while Grace is the star of the photo, this post is in reference to pretty much every friend I have not in New York.... I miss my friends, y'all. All day, e'ery day.

I really am very fortunate to have some amazing friends in my life. And, in 2010 one thing I want to do is make sure I let them know how loved they are.

mush, mush, mush. gah, enough!

ink.

Little known fact: I have 4 tattoos and 10 piercings. I love em. I really freakin love tattoos and piercings (this is like a AA/NA announcement, hahaha)
I got my first tattoo right after I tuned 18, and the other 3 followed over the next 5 years. The last one I got with SM sometime before I moved. Point is... I'm getting that itch again. I just really wanna get inked on or pierced. real bad. Truth is, I'm way too old for any other piercings. I mean, my nose stud is staying in forever, obv, but what am I gonna do? get my eyebrow or lip done? at 23? bitch, please. I have some space on my left ear... but maybe shouldn't OD.

So, I'm planning the next tattoo, probably gonna get it done on the LES with SM and Morgs after New Years eve.... or maybe I'll let my buddies over at Glenn's do me again. I don't wanna cheat on them--loyalty is a big deal!

here are some tattoos that caught my eye off of this kid's dope ass photo-blog.
